Nutella has been one of the most popular breakfast-stars. Who thought you can make a homemade variant that is splendid? Thank you Greenkitchenstories for the inspiration, I love the light taste of coconuts in combination with the caramel-like sweetness of the dates – exactly the right treat for a Monday morning.
- Coconut oil (about 3 tbsp.)
- Ground hazelnuts
- Cocoa powder (1 tbsp.)
Blend the dates with a mixer for a creamy consistency of the spread. Next, roast ground hazelnuts in a coated pan whilst stirring. Make sure you keep stirring and immediately take them out of the pan if you start to smell lightly roasted nuts. Carefully heat coconut oil and add the dates, nuts, cocoa powder and a bit water for enough liquidity. Cocoa powder is very intense, you will probably need only 1 tablespoon. Mash the mixture with a fork and make sure not to overheat it. As soon as all ingredients are well stirred to a rich chocolate paste, take it from the oven and let it cool. The spread can be well stored in a glass jarwith a slice of roasted bread, this is the perfect start for a good week.
– Happy Monday.
