AÇAI BOWL-Healthy Breakfast for Body & Soul

A çai bowls are the perfect choice for a healthy summer breakfast. The superfood from Brazil nourishes body & soul with necessary antioxidants & vitamins. How could you start the day better than with a smoothie-like snack that almost tastes like ice cream?

In San Diego, all the little coffee shops along the beach serve nourishing Açai bowls. Here is one of my favourite bowls from Better Buzz Coffee. The popular California based coffee chain attracts a steady stream of fans with buzzing coffee variations, organic smoothies and toasts. To make your own Açai Bowl, you can find a homemade recipe below.

Homemade Açai Bowl

  • Frozen Berry Mixture
  • 1-2 tsp. Açai powder
  • Crushed Ice
  • Agave Syrup
  • Some water (if necessary)

Blend all ingredients in a mixer until a thick, smoothie-like consistency. Add Agave syrup or any other natural sweetener according to your taste and fill the puree into a bowl to serve. Top with granola (recipe below) and lots of fruits of your choice – enjoy ;).


  • 50 g butter
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 package vanilla sugar
  • 70 g almond flakes (or nuts of your choice)
  • 70 g crisp oat flakes
  • 40 g coconut flakes

For the granola, preheat the oven up to 190 degrees. Start by heating the butter with honey and 1 tbsp. sugar in a pot under stirring. Add cinnamon and vanilla sugar first, then, almonds, oat flakes and coconut flakes. Spread the mixture well on a baking tray, lined with parchment paper so that it can get a nice crunch. Bake it in the middle of the oven for 5-6 minutes and keep an eye on it. When the mixture is roasted golden yellow, take the baking tray out of the oven and let it cool.
