California-Style Tacos

CALIFORNIA-STYLE

Tacos with fresh salsa and guacamole are a delicious summer food. Southern California has countless Taco Shops with the best Burritos & Tacos outside of Mexico. These 3 California-Style Taco recipes are a scrumptious snack that will make you love Mexican food even more. You can find a selection of my favorite taco shops in Southern California below.

1)Chorizo-Taco

  • Ground Meat
  • Paprika
  • Cumin
  • Ground Coriander
  • Pineapple
  • Icing Sugar
  • Red Cabbage
  • Oxaca cheese (or any other mild cheese)

Sear the ground meat with a good amount of olive oil, lots of paprika (spicy paprika if available),  cumin and ground coriander. When the meat is done, put it aside. For the caramelized pinapple, heat 1 tsp. of icing sugar in a pan and stir until melted. Add the pineapples to caramelize and keep stirring. Fill the tacos with chorizo, pineapples, red cabbage and sprinkle some cheese if you like.

Chorizo, Fish and Veggie Tacos

2)Fish-Taco

  • Codfish (breaded)
  • Letters
  • Guacamole
  • Cocktail Sauce

Cut the fish in smaller pieces, coat it in egg and cover with bread crumbs. Fry the fish in a pan until golden brown. Fill the tacos with fish, letters, guacamole and garnish with cocktail sauce.

3)Veggie-Taco

  • Mushrooms
  • Garlic
  • Kidney Beans
  • Corn
  • Bell Peppers
  • Oxaca cheese (or any other mild cheese)
  • Cocktail Sauce

Chop the mushrooms and bell peppers and fry them in a pan with some olive oil, add the beans & corn. You can add onions, zucchini or any vegetables you like. Season with some salt and pepper. Fill the tacos with vegetables and garnish with cocktail sauce.

Salsa

  • Tomatoes
  • Fresh coriander
  • Jalapenos
  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Lime Juice
  • 1 tbsp. vinegar
  • Cumin
  • Ground coriander
  • Salt & pepper

Chop fresh tomatoes, jalapenos, some garlic, onions and fresh coriander – and fill it into a medium size bowl. Add the juice of 1 lime and 1 tbsp. vinegar. Season the salsa with salt, pepper, cumin and ground coriander.

Cocktail-Sauce

  • Ketchup
  • Mayonnaise
  • Chili

For the cocktail sauce, mix ketchup with mayonnaise and add some chili powder if you like. Garnish the tacos with salsa, some lime juice & fresh coriander – and enjoy with a cold Corona.
